BBC News School Report GeoNing

Ning to support geography departments taking part in the BBC News School Report

Do we have to complete consent forms before we can start doing anything? Or can we get the headteacher's form signed (form 2) and just ensure that students have forms as we go along? In which case how do we cope if we want to include interviews etc at the last minute.

Hi,
We started our after school club last week. I send the consent form (BBC letter to parents) with cover letter and reply slip (as this is after school club). Signed forms by headteacher have been sent to BBC at the same time.
I think as long as students images/names are not shown or shared or uploaded on the BBC site, then I can't see why we can't start to use resources and prepare students for the big day.

I am not sure about interviews. I have been in contact with BBC News Report producer Ros Smith and asked if our schoool could have mentor. Has anyone been allocated mentor yet?

Good Luck, Valentina

If you are going to include images of students or if you are going to do any videoing, you need to get school consent forms signed before anything is published. You need to plan ahead if at all possible...
